Sacred Stage

Sacred Stage is the website of Jacqui Rutten, singer, composer, and instrumentalist. The focus for Sacred Stage in 2018 is the composition and premiere of new vocal works connected to nature and to help those in need.

Jacqui was classically trained and has won Australian and Indonesian grants and awards for singing and composing. Highlights have included singing and composing for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, singing as a regular cantor at St. Patrick's cathedral, Melbourne (1999-2005), and speaking about vocal composition and improvisation as a conference delegate at the international conference Composition in the 21st Century in 2014 at TCD, Dublin, Ireland.

In 2018 Jacqui was Composer in Residence at The Tyrone Guthrie Centre for two weeks, her third residency in Ireland. In 2017 she was Artist in Residence at Montsalvat. Commissions include works for Chamber Made Opera, ABC Radio National and Classic FM, and festivals including The Asia-Pacific Festival. She has created many concerts, especially for churches and cathedrals, and in the Dandenong Ranges where she lives.

Jacqui dances and sings Improvisations as Nature every day, and composes with pen and paper to be part of nature.
